People’s hearts are in it.

Justin Gold, founder of Justin's Nut Butter and chair of the capital campaign, said there’s a surprising shortage of nature centers in Boulder County. He said there are even fewer nature centers open year-round that are free and accessible, and fewer still at such a high elevation in buildings with net-zero emissions.

Gold said nature centers are a “vital” part of discovering nature. He said it’s especially important for beginners who are looking for an introduction to the outdoors.

“We need an opportunity for people to learn how to be better stewards of the land so future generations can enjoy what we have for years to come,” Gold said.
