Native Land Blessing & Groundbreaking

Members of the Native Tribal Nations came to Wild Bear's land to acknowledge and bless it as we move toward breaking ground for the new nature center this month. This is a major milestone in our 22 year journey to build the net zero nature center, accessible to all.

This land has been on a journey. In 1999, Wild Bear Nature Center, Town of Nederland and Boulder County preserved it. In 2000, Wild Bear removed over 30 TONS of trash from the land making it one of the healthiest wetland habitats in Boulder County. In 2000, the town voters approved the building of the nature center on Wild Bear's 5 acres.

Now, we have blessed this land, it's past present and future, and we are now moving into beginning the chapter of building the highest elevation net zero nature center open 360 days of the year, located on almost 3,000 acres with 16 miles of trail in western Boulder County.

There are many ways to get involved in this important project. Now, more than ever, we need nature and nature needs us and with your support we will connect people with nature for generations to come.
